Linda Popky, the founder and president of L2M ASSOCIATES, INC, a strategic marketing company. Linda works her branding and strategic marketing genius with big companies and small. Her clients include Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, and Applied Materials among many others. She is the president of Women in Consulting, a collaborative organization of business professionals in more than 30 consulting specialties. Frequently quoted in the national press, Linda is the author of the recently published book, Marketing Your Career: Positioning, Packaging and Promoting Yourself for Success. She will speak on Planting the Seeds: Why Branding is Key to Building A Successful Business.
Karen Orton, Vice President of Enterprise Solutions for Lithium Technologies. Karen has worked with online communities for more than a decade in her role as a marketing and sales executive for Internet and Hightechnology companies. At Lithium, Karen works with key enterprise customers, advising them on their online community business strategies. She is responsible for many of Lithium’s strategic accounts including Symantec, Lenovo, and MTV (Viacom), Computer Associates and HP. Karen is also an advisor to several Web 2.0 start-ups. She will talk about how Web 2.0 strategies are being used to enable companies to increase brand loyalty, sales, and customer satisfaction at an affordable cost.
The Women’s Leadership Forum (formerly the Women’s Extravaganza!) attracts more than 150 participants annually. Last year’s Extravaganza on Leaders and Leadership received rave reviews from participants. This year’s forum, focusing on marketing leadership, has again attracted superlative speakers .

Brand Power: When a customer has a need to be met, you would like them to think of you first; this is the power of branding. What succeeds in planting the “brand seed?” What makes brand “stick”. How can small and medium-sized businesses develop a meaningful branding program?
“Viral” Marketing: The advent of social computing – from text messaging and “flash mobs” to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and the rapidly expanding universe of wiki’s and blogs – online communities have created a new kinds of networks. With social computing, the notion of word-of-mouth referrals has expanded exponentially. How can smaller businesses make use of these tools? What efforts are likely to be cost effective?
Online Marketing: Online advertising has the extraordinary advantage of matching a customer’s “real-time” needs with your product. New technologies permit cost effective targeting to customers in your community, in your industry, or in your specialty. These resources are increasingly available to small businesses. How might you match your advertising directly to potential customers’ needs?
Market Ethics: In this brave new world of instant communications and competitive intensity what values issues must responsible companies address? With the opening of means what new thresholds and constraints must be evaluated? A panel of marketing professionals will consider what new ethical dilemmas business people are facing.
